Jaipur To Mandawa Day Trip

  • 01 Day
  • Mandawa

Tour Overview

Spent a day in Shekhawati recently — started from Jaipur early morning. Mandawa was our first stop, and honestly, those old havelis are something else. Every wall has a story. Nawalgarh was quieter but just as rich in detail. Later, we wandered through Dundlod and Fatehpur — small places, but full of charm. Long day, lots of walking, totally worth it.

Tour Highlights
  • Ever heard of Shekhawati? It's not just another stop — it’s like walking inside a painted storybook.

  • First stop: Mandawa. It’s where murals meet memories. Chokhani Haveli, Ladia, Newatia — names that stay with you.

  • Then Nawalgarh. Slower pace. Quieter corners. But rich — really rich — in character.

  • Dundlod? Feels like time paused for a bit. You’ll want to linger.

  • And Fatehpur’s the kind of place you don’t just visit. You feel it. Every crack in those havelis has a tale.

Tour Itinerary and Time:

The day kicks off around 8 in the morning, when your driver picks you up straight from your hotel. As the car leaves the city limits, Jaipur slowly fades into the rearview, replaced by open skies, scattered hamlets, and roadside stalls brewing morning chai. The drive to Shekhawati takes a few hours — just enough time to enjoy the changing scenery or chat with your driver about the local culture.

By noon, you’ll reach Mandawa, a small town that wears its history on its walls — quite literally. You won’t need a museum guide here; the havelis do all the storytelling. Painted facades, fading yet vivid, catch your eye at every turn. Chokhani Haveli, Ladia, Newatia, and Gulab Rai — each one tells a different story through murals. The Mandawa Fort still stands proud, weathered but graceful.

Around 1:30 PM, it’s time for a lunch break. Nothing fancy, just wholesome local food at a modest restaurant — the kind of place locals trust. Expect fresh breads, spicy vegetables, and maybe even a sweet surprise at the end.

The journey picks up again by 2:30 PM, this time taking you to Nawalgarh. If Mandawa was impressive, Nawalgarh feels more personal. You’ll explore houses like Anandi Lal Poddar Haveli and Aath Haveli, with walls covered in art — sometimes faded, sometimes perfectly intact. Don’t rush. This town rewards those who look closely.

As the afternoon light softens, you’ll reach Dundlod around 4:30 PM. Quieter than the others, Dundlod feels untouched. You can wander freely — no crowds, no pressure. The fort is small, but charming. If time allows, step into the Satyanarayan Temple — peaceful and full of local character.

The final stop, by 6:00 PM, is Fatehpur. Here too, art lives on in silence. Homes like the Mahavir Prasad Goenka Haveli still carry echoes of the past. There’s even a baoli (stepwell) nearby — dry now, but still holding centuries of memory.

By 8:00 PM, you’ll begin the drive back to Jaipur. It’s been a long, rich day — the kind that lingers. You’ll return to your hotel around midnight, tired maybe, but filled with stories you’ll want to share.
